Homeless Services

McHenry County PADS

Homelessness does not discriminate; it can happen to anyone.
We may all be just one life-changing event away.

Homeless services are offered at our 24/7 McHenry County PADS (Providing Advocacy, Dignity, and Shelter) facility located at 1805 S. Route 31, McHenry, Illinois. The program aids McHenry County individuals and families experiencing homelessness through emergency shelter and support services to empower successful outcomes. We focus on the well-being, safety, and security of those we serve to advance their goals and achieve sustainable independence with education, job readiness, and career pathway programs.

Those seeking assistance must complete an intake process which includes an admission screening to ensure the safety of all individuals being served.

IF YOU, OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW, IS HOMELESS OR AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS, KNOW THERE ARE RESOURCES AVAILABLE. CALL OUR EMERGENCY HOTLINE AT 815-344-1230 #1.

Less than 10% of clients in the PADS program return to homelessness.

Headline About Us

Our Story:

In 1988, the McHenry County faith community voiced concerned about homeless people they observed living in cars, under bridges, viaducts and in wooded areas in the county during the cold winter months.  Together, they agreed to open their doors each night to provide individuals with dinner, a warm place to sleep and breakfast.
